Our discussions/negotiations with the owners of the Bigge St. Property continue. We have one remaining, but significant issue regarding the size of the security deposit. They are concerned about the financial risk of an organization such as ours. As a result they are asking for a higher than normal security deposit. We have requested a meeting to discuss a middle ground.

As we reported in the Member forums, we have continued to assess the WCF portable curling facility program. At this stage we have concluded it is a reasonable option for us to pursue. As a result, we will be submitting a proposal to the WCF later this month (and thanks to Brent Halpenny for leading this effort).

Regardless of the location, fundraising will be critical for us to move forward with a dedicated ice facility. To that end, we have embarked on a member donation drive.

Many thanks to those of you who have contributed so far and helped us raise more than $146,000. The Fundraising Committee will be reaching out to members over the next few weeks to ask for their support. It would be wonderful to reach at least $200,000 by the end of the year. Please feel free to contact Nancy Graydon (nancy@bayareacurling.com) if you have any thoughts or suggestions for our fundraising efforts. And, of course, if you haven’t donated yet or can add to your donation, please do.
