The Dedicated Ice Committee is pleased to present our business plan, which you can find at www.bayareacurling.com/di-business-plan. This document provides a description of SFBACC today, a vision for how dedicated ice can and will benefit SFBACC, and the requirements for building a dedicated curling facility. The document includes a pro forma operating budget, but since its production, the finance committee has compiled a draft report detailing the assumptions and calculations used to project annual operating balance sheets for a dedicated ice facility in Hayward. Furthermore, it provides some analysis and comparisons to the current state of SFBACC as a Sharks Ice customer. You can find this document at www.bayareacurling.com/di-business-plan as well. Note that both documents are in draft form for your review, so please excuse any typos or errors.
We would like to take the next two weeks to collect your questions and feedback on this material. We have scheduled 2 in-person meetings you can attend to review the plan with, and ask questions of, the Dedicated Ice committee:
You can call into 1 or both of the meetings at (925)270-4300. Note that the sound quality may not be great as we will be using a cell phone and will not be able to take questions via the cell phone. This is in addition to the informal meeting already scheduled in San Jose for February 18th.
We recognize that not all members may be able to attend one of these meetings, and we still want your feedback! You can also submit any questions or comments to ice@bayareacurling.com during the review period, whether or not you plan to attend one of the member forums. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. After receiving your comments, we are intending to publish an updated and final version of the business plan on March 3.
With a final proposal from the Committee in-hand, we will hold a membership vote for the Dedicated Ice Initiative authorizing the SFBACC Board to move forward. We are currently planning for the member vote to be conducted electronically beginning on March 3 with the release of the finalized business plan, and ending at 8:00pm on March 8. (Be on the lookout for a separate invitation and announcement in your inbox soon.) We are also tentatively planing on holding a membership meeting, where you can place your vote in person, on Mar 8 at the proposed site in Hayward. However, this meeting is pending permission from the building owner. The intent of this meeting is to allow members to tour the building and to ask any additional questions they may have before making their vote.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed countless hours of work to pull these documents together for the membership.
