In researching some other clubs that have been successful in their dedicated ice efforts, I came across an interesting article about the Evergreen Curling Club in Portland:

Their new venue became the second dedicated facility on the West Coast when it opened in early 2013. Within the first few months of opening they were able to host regional playdowns and in March 2015, they will host the 53rd Annual International Tankard. Dedicated ice has literally put their club on the map!

In addition to having more time for curling and growing their their junior and adaptive curling leagues, having their own club has also provided more opportunities for their members to socialize. Getting the project funded and completed required a lot of creativity and effort from club members.

Evergreen’s story, as well as our friends in Phoenix, provides wonderful inspiration that SFBACC will be next. With your support we can have the first dedicated ice facility in California and become a hub of curling for the western United States. Please consider a meaningful donation to help us reach our goal!
