The San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club’s Board of Directors is excited to announce that we have executed a lease on the property located at 8450 Enterprise Way in Oakland! I would like to give a huge thank you to everyone involved in finding, researching, and negotiating this property including Brian D, Bill M, Sean F, Ann D, and our brokers at Newmark Cornish & Carey. An additional thank you goes out to Sean F, Alex B, and Dave S for donating their professional services during this process. And finally another thank you goes to everyone who has worked on, believed in, or contributed to this dream in one way or another over the past 4+ years, especially Wes S, Brian P, Brent H, Tom D, and Barry I. We wouldn’t have made it to this point had you not laid the groundwork.
We are incredibly enthusiastic about everything this opportunity will bring – better ice and ice times, expanded programs for junior, wheelchair, and competitive development, significantly increased membership capacity, and a permanent place for members to gather. The next steps are to submit our application for a Conditional Use Permit to the city of Oakland, engage our architect, Wade Ellenberger, to draw up site plans for building permits, and of course continue our fundraising efforts. More information will follow in the coming weeks about how you can help. We’ll begin arranging for members to tour the building soon. Lease commencement is October 1st.
