Hello DI Committee,

Is it possible to show who is on the DI committee on this website?
I do not see any names other than Brian & Brian and that is due to the last posting.

I think it would be nice to see who is on the DI committee.

Also, I know this is lots of work but is it possible to have a section that shows listed properties that have been searched/reviewed and the final status (too big, small, expensive, etc)?

Per comments made last night, one feeling is that the DI Committee is picking and choosing places to visit which is unfair. But, there is no listing on the website other than those that were going through the LOI/Lease process.

I would hope that a list would show that the DI Committee is looking at all possible properties in the Bay Area (North, South, East, West), even those brought to the attention of the DI committee from club members.

Thanks. bye, llm.

Thanks for the question and feedback. Currently the only functioning committee for Dedicated Ice is the search committee. As presented recently to the board, we intend to re-form committees once we have another viable property in the works. As we have not been presented with any properties recently, there has really not been much to update.

We do continue to seek out properties on our own, however. I personally search loopnet and Craigslist on a regular basis to see if I can find properties our broker hasn’t found. I encourage others to do the same. If it meets our costing and size parameters, then it’s worth looking at. If the building is too big, or too small, or too expensive, then we don’t go look at it.

Examples of these are the Piers in San Francisco for lease – I think they would make an awesome curling facility, but we just can’t afford it (and technically may not be possible). We’ve found airplane hangars that would make great facilities, but the landlord isn’t willing to lease more than 36 months, so we didn’t go look.

I think your idea of a database of properties is a good one, and definitely something to implement going forward. I'm not sure what value it adds to ask someone to spend hours compiling a list of all historical properties we've seen and recall why we did or did not move forward with each one. I’m also happy to discuss individual properties if you have questions about them, and to answer questions either via email, in person, or at the board meetings.
